So on our recent trip to Florida we visited the V-Room at Manchester Airport, Terminal 2. This Lounge is exclusive to Virgin Holidays customers, requires pre-booking and there is a fee.
We had checked in for our flight the previous day so we dropped our bags at the bag drop desk, proceeded through security and straight to the lounge. We were greeted at the door by a friendly lady and learned we were only 1 of 2 families in the V-Room that morning. We found a table and settled in, nothing was too much for the staff in the lounge. We had a great view of the airport and could see planes coming and going to the runway, it is also close to the gates so you don’t have far to walk.
There is free WIFI in the lounge which is great for some last minute catch up on your social media accounts…or write a blog post 🙂
As it was an early flight it was time for breakfast, they offered an array of cereal, pastries, fruit, smoothies and being just after Christmas there were some festive pastries too. They also have hot, made to order food, including full English breakfast, bacon sarnies…even a Pancake machine…
I went for “The Benedicto”…it was delicious. I then had a ‘dessert’ of Pancakes, Marshmallows and Sprinkles!!
The Inflight Magazine, Retail Therapy Magazines and other magazines were available in the Lounge and you could even take them away with you! It was great to be able to plan what Movies to watch on the plane.
Other facilities available
- Computer with access to the internet and Kids area with gaming and Xbox
- Virgin Holidays experts to help with any last minute additions to your holiday…or even book another trip!
- There is a full-service bar although there is an additional charge for this though 🙂
- You can even check in for your car hire so that there is less to do when you arrive…we had already checked in online so didn’t need to use this facility.
My only complaint…you have to be a Virgin Holidays customer!!
The V-Room is a great way to start your vacation in a relaxed, pleasant environment. I would definitely recommend the V-Room and will be using it ourselves in the future…it is certainly an incentive to buy a Virgin Holidays package too.
A few weeks ago I had a well overdue trip to the Runway Visitor park at Manchester Airport (I have been plenty times since!!). Unfortunately I had missed my favourite plane…Virgin Atlantic, however I was not disappointed. It was super busy with landing after landing and then at one point both runways were in operation, 1 for landings and the other for take-offs.
I even enjoyed an ice cream…it was delicious.
The following week was Bank Holiday, after looking at the weather for the weekend, I decided Sunday would be a good day to go visit the airport…I decided to get there early as most of the long haul flights land or take off in the morning. I arrived at about 10am, just in time to see United Airlines on its way to New York.
There was a moment (well probably about 2 mins or so ) of peace and calm…nothing coming or going…it was weird but nice at the same time.
I saw plenty of action…I even managed to see the Airbus come in from Dubai before leaving to go home.
Once I got home my hubby suggested to we out from lunch/dinner which was I nice way to end the afternoon. We went to the fabulous Chinese Delight in Frodsham.
My favourite plane is the Boeing 747, I love its shape, I also like the AirbusA380 too…what are your favourite or least favourites planes? What do you like about them?
Sorry I haven’t been around much, not a lot has happened to blog about!!
I took a trip to my favourite place today (well the one after Disney and more importantly is easily accessible from home!)…Manchester Airports Runway Viewing Park!! Now don’t think I haven’t been for a while, I have visited most weekends…taking advantage of the lovely weather we are having.
If you have never been to the Runway Viewing Park, and you like watching planes I would highly recommend it. It is free to get in however you do have to pay for parking…£3 an hour. If you walk or cycle then it is completely free.
There is a restaurant, restrooms, take away shop, childrens play area and bouncy castle, picnic tables, there are also planes to look around; Concorde,Nimrod, Trident Three, Avro RJX and Monarch Dc-10.
There are several raised viewing mounds which put you above the wire fence so you can get some great shots of the planes landing and taking off. The majority of the time they are taking off right in front of you and when they land they go right past on their way back to the terminal, I have only been once or twice when they have been going in the opposite direction.
Most of the long haul flights take off in the morning so if you want to see the bigger planes you need to come before lunch. Also the Emirates A380 lands at about midday…however it is quite frequently delayed!!!
There are always lots of short haul flights taking off and landing…
My favourite plane is the Virgin Atlantic 747 which takes off at approx. 11am going to Orlando…my favouritist (is that even a word!!) place ever!! I was lucky enough to to see two VA planes on this visit…one was just landing from Orlando (VS073) and one going to Orlando (VS075).
A website is Flight Radar 24…it is a flight tracking service which provides real-time info about thousands of aircraft all around the world. It gives you details about plane and flight…There is also an app which is great for tracking planes on the go!
That’s all for now…
See you soon Emma x
So, as I mentioned in a previous post I have started a photography course at college, I have been trying to use every opportunity to practice taking photos, using Manual mode of course!! You may also know that I am a geek and just love watching the planes take off and land at Manchester Airport. I have now got Adobe Lightroom so decided it was time to venture into the unknown and open it up and see what it can do.
With the help of an Anthony Morganti’s YouTube video I had a go at editing a photo. Here is the result.
I think it is a very good first attempt, although the plane does look a little ‘stuck on’, especially around the tail. Any feedback is welcome.
After coming back from college I had a quick go at another photo:
I like how the buildings stand out more on my after photo, it doesn’t look as ‘flat’ as the original, what do you think?
